Became Privacy Policy

Became is an iOS app for recording and revisiting important achievements and life events. “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of Became. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled by the app and its related services.

1) Privacy highlights

• No account required. You can use Became without creating an account or giving us your name, phone number, or email address.
• Your collection is stored on your device. Milestones, drafts, and images are stored locally, with no automatic milestone sync between devices. Backup options are described below.
• AI is optional. AI requests send the current milestone’s text and context to our service and third-party AI service providers. The app asks for permission before the first request. Imported photos are not uploaded for AI processing.
• No advertising or cross-app tracking. We do not serve third-party ads or track you across unrelated apps or websites.
• No sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising across unrelated apps or websites.

2) Information Became handles

A) Information stored on your device

Became stores milestone text, dates, categories, images, drafts, favorites, usage records, and preferences on your device, along with service configuration and security credentials.

Milestone files may be included in system backups according to your settings. The app also supports manual backup export and import. Exported files contain your records and images; keep them private and secure.

B) Information used for AI requests

AI writing requests use the current milestone’s notes, category, date, selected writing style, any current description, and content language. Illustration requests use the current description or notes and relevant visual context. These requests also include necessary technical information and are sent to our service and third-party AI service providers for generation. Other milestones in your collection are not included.

Submissions may contain personal information. Before using AI or sharing a milestone, obtain necessary permissions and avoid sensitive or confidential details you are not authorized to disclose.

C) Technical information

Our backend, hosting providers, and diagnostic service providers process technical information for authentication, security, service limits, and troubleshooting. This may include request times and identifiers, device-integrity information, app version, IP address, response status, errors, performance data, and AI provider or model information.

Structured usage analytics record request outcomes and performance, rather than milestone text or photos, separately from your local collection. Service providers processing information on our behalf are required to protect it consistently with this Policy and applicable law.

D) Purchases and support

Apple processes payments. Became receives product, transaction, and subscription-status information for Premium access, but not your full payment-card details. If you contact us, we receive your email address and message.

3) How we use information

We use information as reasonably necessary to:

• provide milestone creation, editing, presentation, and the AI features you request;
• provide and manage subscription access and usage allowances;
• protect the service and prevent abuse;
• diagnose failures and maintain reliability;
• respond to support requests; and
• comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and users.

Where a legal basis is required, we rely on consent for optional AI processing, performance of our contract for the services you request, legitimate interests in security and reliability where permitted, and compliance with legal obligations, as applicable.

You may decline AI processing and still write manually and use your own photos. To stop future AI submissions, do not request AI generation.

4) Retention and deletion

• Local milestones and images: retained until you delete them, remove the app or its data, or the device removes the data. Backups and exported copies may remain separately.
• Usage records: cumulative publication history and AI-usage records remain after deleting milestones to maintain the app’s usage allowances.
• AI request content: our backend is not a permanent library for your collection. Providers may retain inputs and results under their applicable terms, policies, and settings.
• Technical logs: retained as reasonably needed for security, reliability, troubleshooting, or legal obligations, subject to service retention settings.
• Support communications: retained while reasonably needed to respond and for appropriate follow-up or legal recordkeeping.
• Purchase records: retained by Apple under Apple’s policies and legal obligations.

Delete individual milestones or drafts in the app, or use “Delete all milestones” in Settings. Local deletion does not remove copies already shared, exported, backed up, or processed by providers. Manage external copies separately. Some security credentials may remain after uninstalling.

5) Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information handled by the app and related services. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.

6) Your privacy rights

Your statutory privacy rights are not limited by this Policy. You can edit, delete, and export your local records using the app’s controls.

7) Age requirements

Became is intended for people aged 18 and older.

8) Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as Became or legal requirements change. We will post the updated Policy and provide additional notice or request consent when required.
